About the Grant

Manitoba Lung Association is pleased to launch a request for proposals in lung research that align with our mission to enable all Manitobans to breathe with ease. The strategic priority for this current funding call is for research related to air quality and lung health in any one of basic science, clinical, and population health research pillars. Submissions for pilot projects, new projects, or new studies linked to existing projects will be given funding priority.

In our objective to promote lung health for Manitobans, priority will be given to:

  • Research related to inhaled air quality (this includes, but may not be limited to industrial, traffic, forest and wildfire pollution, tobacco and cannabis smoking, and vaping);
  • Interdisciplinary research;
  • An interdisciplinary team that includes one or more of: knowledge users, care givers, patients/clients, and/or an implementation science provider; or
  • Research with a clinical partner.

Even though the long-term goals for a project may extend beyond the means and timeline of this grant, within two years the results of the project should enable the development of a funding proposal that is eligible for submission to national or international peer-reviewed competitions.
