Do you work with youth who smoke? Would you
like to help them quit?
We can help!
Smoking is a critical health problem. Teens that become addicted to tobacco can have serious health consequences and shorter lives. Research tells us that teens would like to quit. Most can't do it on their own - they want and need help.
NOT ON TOBACCO has been available to Manitoba schools and youth organizations since 2003. Some key components of NOT are:
- Designed specifically for teens
- Comprehensive life management skills
- 10 week program
- Taught by trained facilitators
Youth will learn about the following topics:
- Understanding the reasons for smoking.
- Preparing to quit.
- Addressing healthy lifestyle behaviours.
The Manitoba Lung Association, trains teachers, school counselors, public health personnel, health promotion facilitators and others to implement NOT at their school or youth based organization.
NOT facilitator workshops are free for schools and community groups. Facilitators receive the comprehensive Facilitator Guide that will help them run the program.
